Huge Demand For New Xbox 360!

According to Industry Gamer, Microsoft there is a huge demand for the new Xbox 360 Slim console.

Microsoft claims that their new console has been receiving “unprecedented demand”. The reason for such positive praise has been attributed to the new 250gb version and the fifty dollar price cuts on the Arcade and Elite models.

Microsoft said, “”Strong demand for the new Xbox 360 250GB combined with a $50 price reduction in the U.S. on the Xbox 360 Arcade and Elite consoles, now US$149.99 and US$249.99 respectively, has resulted in a significant sales spike for Xbox 360 since the new console hit shelves on or around 14 June.”

Nintendo Is Stepping Up To The Plate, Watch Out Microsoft

Right now people are talking about Nintendo trying to take a slice of the gaming market which Microsoft is continuing to dominate. However, judging by Nintendo’s heavy marketing of the Wii and the DS in Europe, they’ve managed to get real results. How? Well, Nintendo, have developed a truly interactive gaming experience with the Wii, and now they’re targeting the adult gaming market with the DS, a market that they have created and profited from, and look to do so for years to come.

Its great for consumers and gamers to know, that gaming isn’t what it once was. Now, you have real choice- gaming with a different edge in terms of interaction, fun and ground breaking ever evolving technology. This is what Nintendo and Microsoft is bringing to the table right now. I cannot see any competition from Sega or Sony. I would never rule any of them out though. Both Sony and Sega have a tremendous track record in creating quality games consoles, although Sega is doing just fine publishing games for Sony and Microsoft right now. Nostalgically, I do miss the days when you had either a Sony Megadrive or a SNES, although, I am more than satisfied with my Xbox 360 right now.

Google To Go To War With Microsoft?

Xbox has been a soaring success in terms of profits for Microsoft, but in terms of its Windows operating system they could finally have a competitor. Google is soon to release their very own operating system called Google Chrome OS. However, at this time no announcement has been made about a release date, but when it is released expect Google to put heat on Microsoft Windows.
This operating system is rumoured to be free and open source. If Google do succeed, they could finally put an end to Microsoft’s monopoly and form a credible competitor, which for all us geeks out there, has to be a good thing.

Microsoft has confirmed that they’ve sold over thirty million consoles worldwide. Wow. 20 million of those users have accessed nearly 1 billion items of downloadable content.

Don Mattrick the senior Vp for Microsoft said, “We expect our growth to continue to accelerate” said Don Mattrick, Senior VP, Interactive Entertainment Business, Microsoft. “Our news at E3 next week will underscore our commitment to bringing blockbuster entertainment experiences to everyone and to growing the Xbox entertainment brand globally.”

Microsoft has also said that they have the highest attatch rate for all consoles on the market, with each gamer purchasing on average eight games.

It seems that Microsoft have their marketing strategy just right, especially considering the UK arm of Microsoft are close to concluding a deal with british broadcast Sky, which will see gamers being able to view film, sport and TV on their Xbox 360’s. More to follow on this very soon.
